"Go to the sign of Marvel's Axe, a dubious inn on the edge of the Thieves Quarter, in the City of Greyhawk, and look to your own wrist. If you perceive a bracelet and dangling dice, watch for the next throw in the war between Law and Chaos and be prepared to follow the compelling geas." -Signal

GURPS Cyberpunk (1990)

From the web:

Subtitle: "High-Tech Low-Life Roleplaying Sourcebook."

Near the bottom right corner of the cover, in a white triangle (Illuminati logo): "The book that was seized by the U.S. Secret Service! (See p. 4)"

From the back of the book:

LIVING ON THE EDGE

Welcome to a world on the edge. GURPS Cyberpunk brings the gritty chrome-and-plastic streets of the cyberpunk future to the world of GURPS!

Cyberpunk is the genre of man plus machine - a dystopian fusion of the visions of George Orwell and Timothy Leary. It presents challenges far beyond that of the standard "loot the dungeon" themes - in a cyberpunk world, survival itself can be the ultimate success story!

GURPS Cyberpunk doesn't tie you down to one specific background. Instead, it provides rules to simulate any type of environment, from the gutters of New York City to the injection-molded walls of orbital habitats.

Because GURPS Cyberpunk is based on the award-winning GURPS rules, it's possible to create any character type. From gang members to fly-by-night netrunners to black market software dealers, cyborged bodyguards and bioengineered ninja - they're all here.

Included in this book are:
  • New Advantages - from Alternate Identities to Contacts.
  • New Disadvantages - including Cyber Rejection Syndrome, Dying and Zeroed.
  • New Skills - such as Cyberdeck Operation and Video Production.
  • Cyberwear - all the equipment needed to turn the man-on-the-street into a cybernetic killing machine.
  • Brain Implants - from temporary chipped skills to data plugs to a built-in computer.
  • Netrunning rules - hardware and software to penetrate the realistic computer networks of the 20th century or the artificial reality of cyberspace.
  • Campaign advice - Over 30 pages on creating a cyberpunk campaign, both world design and adventure writing.
  • And much, much more...

Aftermath! (1981)

From the web:

"Aftermath! is a role-playing game created by Paul Hume & Robert Charette which was published in 1981 by Fantasy Games Unlimited.

It is set in a post-apocalyptic world in which the characters typically have to fight for food, water, basic supplies and shelter. The rules are reasonably complex and include a few flow charts and tables to enable the Games Master to simulate the world. This leads to a very immersive gaming experience. However, it does require a good knowledge of the rules to play.

The nature of the Apocalypse is up to the Games Master but it is often reminiscent of the Mad Max films. There is even an expansion (Aftermath! Magic!) to play in a universe dominated by dragons in the style of the film Reign of Fire."

The system is mostly a dice based system that uses a d20 to resolve combat and skill checks and then uses a table for a 'complex' hit location. This determines additional effects to the character. Highly realistic many characters will die after just one hit, so watch out. Once you get into a firefight someone isn't walking away.

This is a boxed set which contains the following:
  • Basic Rules book with multiple examples and illustrations of play
  • Player's Handbook (Survivors of the Aftermath) detailing construction of characters, equipment and life after the ruin
  • Referee's Handbook (The World of Aftermath) detailing construction of the environment and running the game
  • Introductory Scenario (Survive!) to allow you to start play easily
  • Playaids"

DL1: Dragons of Despair (1984)

From the web:

The first module in the DragonLance series, an effort that eventually led to the creation and expansion of a key Dungeons and Dragons setting. This adventure is for six to eight characters of level four to six, and they strongly encourage players to use the included characters. The module begins by pointing out what is different in Krynn: Kender, steel instead of gold, no cleric spells and no dragons - at least when things begin. In this adventure the characters orient themselves to their quest and begin facing off against the draconians.

Back cover text:

You stand on the road east of Solace, tired from five years of adventuring, from a fruitless search for lost clerical magic. You know the old proverb that claims “You must return to find what you left to seek,” but the saying never really made sense. Soon, however, it will.

For the world of Krynn is not the same: refugees stream out of the northernmost human lands, telling horrible tales. An invading army has burned their villages and put their families and friends to the sword. Among these stories you hear even darker rumors — that older evils, the dragons themselves, have returned to the world, for new and more terrible purposes.

“Dragons of Despair” is the first in TSR’s new series of DRAGONLANCE™ adventures for use with the ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® game system. Your players will adventure in the world of Krynn, visit strange places such as Haven or ruined Xak Tsaroth, and encounter the bizarre draconians and spectral minions. They can play the modules as a set of separate adventures or as a great quest that spans the entire DRAGONLANCE™ story.

The adventure itself leads your party from the known areas of the True World into the northlands, through the lands of the desert dwarves, the Poscadar elves, the Dog People, and others. Your characters will deal with desert hardships they have never endured before. They will also confront spirits they've never heard of: the spirits that have caused the downfall of Michaca, the City of Gold.

And do not forget the words of a poet of another place, and another time: "Nor all that tempts your wand'ring eyes / And heedless hearts, is lawful prize; / Nor all, that glisters, gold."

Master of the Desert Nomads (1983)

From the front cover:

"You have been sent on a deadly journey into the wastes of the Sind. Guided only by the reports of a half-dead scout and a scrawled map, you ride straight towards the monstrous armies of the Master"

From the back cover:

To arms! To arms! The battle lines are drawn as desert men and inhuman tribes wait poised to strike on the fertile and rich lands of the east. The call has gone out through the civilized lands. The armies have been raised to match the invading foes from the west. Nobles and peasants have joined swords to greet the foes.

But Fate or Chance has decreed another role for the small few. No glorious banners will wave on their march. No squadrons of knights will charge at their word. Instead, they will fight the war with stealth, secrecy, and cunning. The risks they will take are great, but the fates of both armies lie with them.

It begins one night for your party far from the fighting. Suddenly you are entrusted with the most dangerous mission of the war.

Can you cross the Sind Desert, occupied now by enemy armies, to find the Great Pass?

Can you find the one known only as The Master?

What will you do if you do find him?

So beings your adventure in The Master of the Desert Nomads, the first module of a two-part adventure that can be concluded in the exciting Temple of Death or played entirely on its own. Can your party do what must be done?

The Magic Encyclopedia (Volume Two) (1993)

From the back cover:

Did you ever wonder what a phylactery is? Do you know what the difference between a cloak and a robe is? The Magic Encyclopedia answers these questions with succinct definitions of every type of item found in a magical treasure hoard, and every definition has an illustration.

The list of definitions in Volume Two runs from Goggle to Zwieback, and completes the list begun in Volume One. The listing includes an experience point value and a gold piece sale value for each item. At last, you'll know exactly what every bauble in any hoard is really worth. The listing also identifies the product where the item is described and the page number where you can find it. A complete list of those products (current through December, 1991) also is provided.

I9: Day of Al'Akbar (1986)

From the back cover:

The land of Arir — a once peaceful desert country, dotted with oases, teeming with caravans — fell into the hand of infidels. The ruler, the dearly loved Sultan Amhara, was killed in the battle for the capital city of Khaibar. He left behind one of the greatest treasure stores ever amassed — jewels and coins, more than anyone had ever seen before or since — and in addition, the Cup and Talisman of Al'Akbar.

A deadly plague sweeps your land. The holy men say that if only they had the Talisman, they could create cures for this dread disease. Many adventurers have tries and failed to find the Cup and Talisman. Now it is your turn. Find these treasures, and save your people!

The journey is exciting, but treacherous. Do not be distracted by exotic sights and sounds, the strange foods. You must avoid being discovered by Al'Farzikh and his brigands, as you infiltrate the palace. Be wary — what is most beautiful may be most deadly, and what seems useless may be priceless.

I12: Egg of the Phoenix (1987)

From the back cover:

""Come on," they said, "It won't be so tough, just stopping a slavery ring," they said.

"I don't know," you said. "Those slaves aren't even entirely human! How do we know they won't try to kill us?"

But you went, and now you're having second thoughts. There were the thieves in the lost crypts of Empyrea, raising hundreds of - no, that's too disturbing to think about. There were the three daughters who - no, that's too painful to remember. Now there's this Egg of the Phoenix. What does that have to do with anything? This was supposed to be a cut-and-dried stop-the-slavers job. Who said anything about retrieving lost artifacts?

Trudging through forests, traipsing through castles, trotting through dungeons, traveling through other planes: this has turned into more than your run-of-the-mill adventure. The compensation had better be worth it!
Provided, of course, you're around at the end to collect your share.

An adventure for 5-6 Characters Levels 5-9.
