On Saturday I talked about a gem that had remained hidden until I happened upon it. The problem when you go hunting you end up having to turn over rocks and look in piles of stuff that it might not be better to look in. Sometimes you find gems and sometimes you find items like Galal's Grave.
The module is not the worst thing ever written. It is just uninspired and not something that would make you want to buy a product from the company again. The irony is that this was also released by Troll Lord Games. The same company that gave us the gem. This has the claim on the back that it was their first D20 System adventure. Maybe that is the case.
I talked about the overload of d20 products but I was not sure I mentioned the varying quality being an issue just as much as the glut of products. I would ask that you take my word on this as I would hate to have someone buy this because I spoke about it. If you have it already or have access to a copy I would love to hear about someone elses experience and opinion.
The module as previously stated was released by Troll Lord Games. It was put out in 2000 and is 24 pages long. Again it was not the worst module I have ever read and the GM could most likely work with it to make it better but with the glut of products out there why bother. It is easier just to move on to something else.
From the back of the module....
Fiend Games presents its first d20 System adventure. Galal's Grave provides the perfect campaign beginning for 1st level characters.
The valiant elven hero, Galal, perished while defending the mountain homeland of the dwarves from a great evil. Now you must gather in the tavern of Gullum's Gullet and make ready to lead your party in search of Galal's Grave. Enter the unique dungeon that houses the remains, run the gauntlet of traps and magic, and lay claim to treasure of legend.
Galal's Grave meshes with any fantasy campaign world, or serves as a rousing introduction to Fiend Games' universe. New creatures and hooks for further myth-making round out this adventure module, which is ideal for introducing players to a new era and edition of fantasy role playing.
Spell:
Spell Storage II
Level: Seventh
Range: None
Duration: Special
Ares of Effect: Special
Components: V,S,M
Casting Time: 1 Round
Saving Throw: None
Please not that except for the level of spells that can be stored this spell is identical to Spell Storage I.
When this spell is cast the magic user is able to then cast additional spells into special designed foci. These will hold a spell for later casting. These devices can only be used by the caster that originally put the spell into the device.
The caster will be able to store one spell per device. The spells must be between fourth and sixth level with the use of this particular spell. The caster may cast a limited number of spells into any number of foci. The limit on this is that they must have the spell to cast and they must be cast continuously with no more than one round of break per spell.
The number of foci that a caster can have is limited by their level. The caster can have a number of foci equal to one plus their level at the time the spell was cast into the foci. The spell will remain in the item for a period of 24 hours. At the end of that time the spell energy dissipates.
The material components of this spell will be a small foci that is designed specifically for a particular spell level. The cost of the foci will be 50gp per level of the spell it is intended to hold. Each foci may hold one spell. The foci may be reused after the spell it contains is used or has lost the energy stored within it.
Disclaimer: The spells that you will see, for how ever long the write ups last, were all written up or conceived of back in the 80's so the terminology may not appropriate for anything other than 1e and depending on how well I did back then it may be slightly off for that as well. If there is any duplication of spells that exist now it is most likely I wrote mine first :) Please feel free to comment on them but try not to be too hard on me. If anyone wishes to use these in anything they print please let me know in advance and all I ask is proper credit.
"Go to the sign of Marvel's Axe, a dubious inn on the edge of the Thieves Quarter, in the City of Greyhawk, and look to your own wrist. If you perceive a bracelet and dangling dice, watch for the next throw in the war between Law and Chaos and be prepared to follow the compelling geas." -Signal

And so we are forewarned, thanks again, Wymarc. Yet another reason for sharing amongst our community.
Storage Spell II seems like a lot of "nothing" to me, given my preference for Rings of Wizardry.
But that's just me.
